Keith Cox: four taken home on a mini cat. Mark Webb: four taken home on a bloodworm. 3rd May 2010 A variety of patterns worked at the fishery last week - a far tougher week than anglers have been used to. James Pugh: one taken and six released on white fritz and cats. Roy Davies: one taken and six released on fritz and sparkler. Roger Jones: one taken and five released on buzzers and humungus. Damsels,bloodworms and diawl bachs have also been working. 25th April 2010 Lures were working best last week-fritz,cats and montanas. James Pugh,one taken and nine released on a white fritz. Roy Davies,one taken and nine released on a black and yellow cat. Gene Hale four fish taken to a total weight of 11b on cats and montanas. 18th April 2010 Cwm Hedd is fishing very well- Montanas,both green and black and red and black,are catching most trout at the moment.Black buzzers with red thorax are also proving effective. Roger Jones: two taken and eleven released on black buzzers. James Pugh: one taken and fourteen released on red and black montanas. John Lewis: three taken to 8lb on red and black montanas. Roy Davies: one taken to 6lb and a further twelve released on black and red buzzers. 11th April 2010 An excellent week at Cwm Hedd-both green and black and red and black montanas proved highly successful in taking trout,on both intermediate and floating lines. Mark Gunter: one taken and eleven released on montanas. John Gunter and Sean Gunter took one each and released sixteen between them on montanas. Daniel Perkins: four taken on cats and diawl bachs. Keith Cox: six taken on montanas. 5th April 2010 A good week at the fishery,although heavy rain and strong winds made casting difficult. Roger Jones: one taken and twelve released on black buzzers. Mike Dummer: one taken to 5lb2oz and a further three released on a black and red montana. James Pugh: one taken and eleven released on buzzers and bloodworm. As water temperatures buzzers will become the patterns of choice. 30th March 2010 Roger Jones: one taken and eleven released on his own black buzzer pattern. James Pugh: one taken and nine released on montana. Roy Davies: three taken home to a bag weight of 11b including a 6lb on green and black montana. Geoff Richards: one taken and nine released on buzzers and bloodworm. 22nd March 2010 Some good returns this week-green and black montanas took most trout, fished slow on intermediate lines. Darren Richards: one taken and six released on montanas. Sean Gunter: one taken and seven released on lures. David Tetley took home three on montanas as did Denzil Jones. Richard Groves: three taken on lures. Gene Hale: three taken best to 6lb on cats. 15th March 2010 Strong easterlies at the beginning of the week, and strong westerlies at the end of the week made fishing challenging. Lures fished deep on a slow retrieve worked best,especially into the wind. Roger Jones: one taken and twelve released on aps bloodworm, buzzers and damsel. Richard Groves: one taken and nine released on montana,cats and fritz. James Pugh,one taken and nine released non fritz and damsel. Gene Hale: four taken to a total of 13lb-best to 6lb, on fritz. 5th March 2010 Some good returns this week at Cwm Hedd.Strong, cold easterlies at the start of the week saw most fish caught off the East Bank and in the sheltered Inlet Bay.As the week progressed and the windspeeds dropped, the West bank and Island became more productive. Stef Micalef: three taken best to 6lb8oz on a Montana. Richard Mills:best to 6lb on a holographic fritz. Junior angler Anthony Jones caught a lovely 6lb12oz rainbow on a Cats Whisker. 22nd February 2010 Kasidit Leoviriyakit was the winner of this years Troutmaster fishoff at Cwm Hedd. Kas used a goldie to land four fish to a total weight of 14lb 4oz including a 6lb. In second place came Gary Wharton with three fish to 12lb, again on a goldie.Earlier in the week Gary landed a total of eleven fish with a yellow dancer on an intermediate line. Other returns this week were, Don Griffiths sixteen landed on a damsel. Lewis Llewellyn, seven landed including a 4lb brownie on a bloodworm. Roger Andrews, best fish to 7lb on P.T.N. Fishing was much harder on Sunday, probably due to fishing pressure during the previous week-please be aware that early mornings have been most productive, with lures such as cats and fritz on intermediate lines and slow retrieve working best. 15th February 2010 Some excellent returns from Cwm Hedd last week. Cats, fritz and damsels worked very well,although buzzers,bloodworms and pheasant tail nymphs also took their share of trout. Sally Ann Iles,one taken and twenty nine returned on many patterns including all of the above. Roger Jones,two fish taken the best weighing 7lb plus four released on a humungus and damsel. Andrew Richards,one taken and eight released on cats,damsels and diawl bach. John Gunter,one taken and sixteen released on cats. 8th February 2010 Lures still predominate,fished slowly on an intermediate or floating line with a sink tip. Roger Andrews: best fish this week-7lb caught on a dancer. Deri Williams: one taken and eight released on cats,montana and daddies. Mike Dummer: best fish to 61/2lb on an orange ptn. Kristian Saunders: best fish to 61/2lb on a montana. Glyn Rowe: one taken and five released on a damsel. 1st February 2010 Early mornings proved most productive last week-bright sunlight and a lack of ripple saw fish caught mostly in the deeper water.When the breeze picked up and it clouded over,lures worked well in the margins. Stewart Blake: one taken and eight returned on a daddy. Paul Ivin: two taken to a bag weight of 7lb12oz on a black lure. Lyn Edwards: one taken to 6lb and a further eight released on a mini cat and Montana. James Pugh: one taken and nine released on aps bloodworm and woolly bugger. 25th January 2010 Some good returns this week-a variety of patterns working according to fluctuating temparatures and light levels. Keith Cox:two taken and eight released on a cat. Gene Hale: four taken to 11lb on buzzers. 18th January 2010 Warmer weather this week brought both anglers and trout out at Cwm Hedd. Although lures continued to work well, thawing ice released trapped insects and more traditional patterns also found favour. Mark Hunter: one taken and five released on a mini cat. John Pitman: one taken and five released on a black fritz. Mike Roberts: one taken and five released on diawl bach and buzzers.
